Museum Plantin-Moretus, Antwerp, Belgium
I recently completed a PhD in art history from the University of California, Santa Barbara, with a dissertation on color in medieval manuscripts. My academic areas of expertise include art history, medieval studies and book history, and I have experience working with clients from many other disciplines including literature, religious studies, history of science and social health. Living in Belgium since 2011, I have had the opportunity to work with many international scholars writing in English. I am currently co-editor of two book series with KU Leuven—Art & Religion and Studies in Iconology, both published by Peeters Publishers—and I am affiliated with Illuminare: Centre for the Study of Medieval Art at KU Leuven as well as the Iconology Research Group.
As a transplant from Southern California, I have not only discovered a new world of coats, boots, hats and gloves by moving to Northern Europe, but have also enjoyed learning about the rich culture of Belgium and its neighboring countries. In my free time I enjoy taking weekend trips around Benelux to explore bookshops, monuments, churches and museums, and I especially enjoy attending all types of local festivities, from processions of saints’ relics and parades of giant puppets to neighborhood Christmas markets and beer-tasting events.
I look forward to working with you on your next writing project!
